ProductVision GHS Module
links seamlessly with the
RC and
EU modules to greatly
simplify compliance with the Global Harmonization (GHS)
standard. The GHS standard provides
a framework to perform assessments on substances and mixtures leading to
the assignment of hazard and precautionary statements, hazard pictograms
and a hazard signal word ("Danger" or "Warning"). This module allows entry of
GHS Hazard Statements and trigger levels for each
substance. The MSDS and label generation process
automatically determines the appropriate Hazard and
Precautionary Statements, hazard pictograms, and signal word which
should be included on the regulatory documents for your
products.

Simplifies
Compliance with GHS Regulations
All necessary GHS
Hazard and Precautionary Statements are included with the software.
Per the regulation, the program automatically assigns the proper
Precautionary Statements for each Hazard Statement. Combination
phrases are handled automatically by the system, so that you always end up with the
minimum number of statements necessary on your regulatory documents. Likewise, conflicting hazard symbols are
removed by the system.
Provides the Information You Need
All
of the information used to determine the final GHS
assessment is available to the user. The formula composition, expanded to the lowest
level, is accessible for each revision. Details
for the assessment, including the calculated Acute
Toxicity Estimate (ATE), are included. The source for each
assigned Hazard Statement may be shown (for example, "H317" comes from
substance "C2073" as shown below):

Regulatory Assessment Properties Aid in Product
Formulation
The
GHS
Module includes standard regulatory assessment
properties which provide an immediate rating of the hazards presented by
the product during product formulation.
This allows the
chemist to vary product formulations, as necessary, to reduce the
reported hazards.

As
shown above, you can view the current hazards for the product without
leaving the formulation screen or creating a regulatory document.
Enables Assessments for All "Flavors" of GHS
As the GHS standard uses a "building block" approach,
different countries and jurisdictions may choose which elements of the
standard to implement. For example, the UN ("Purple Book")
"flavor" of GHS includes a Category 5 for Acute Hazards.
Some jurisdictions, including the EU in their CLP regulations, have
declined to include this classification. Some countries may
also decide to classify substances differently for certain hazards. This
incomplete harmonization presents challenges for the user to arrive at
an accurate assessment for your substances and products on a world-wide basis. ASD has included the major "flavors" of GHS in its assessment routines,
including CLP (EU), Japan, China, and the pending US regulations, which
greatly simplifies compliance. Other "flavors" can be
added easily as the need arises. The program also allows you
to enter different classifications for your substances for different countries or
jurisdictions.
Software is Updated for Future Regulation Changes
ASD keeps abreast of current and future regulations and updates the
software, if necessary, to help you comply with these new regulations.
