The Formula Design Module (FD) allows you to quickly generate any number of test
formulas, containing a common base raw material or formula, and varying
combinations of additional ingredients. For example, you could create a
group of related paint formulas which contains a specific white base
formula and various combinations of tints. The formula design module
automatically creates the desired formulas much more quickly than you
could manually using the Formula “Save As” option.
Flexible Designer Lets You Control Formula Creation
The Design tab allows you to specify details about
the formulas you are creating, including the number of design points,
additional components, and base formulas/resource components.
Several Options are Available
You can enter raw material amounts in percentage or
an absolute amount in a chosen unit of measure. You may choose to
"expand" the base formula during the creation of the formulas. You
can enter more than one base formula and the system will create formulas
for each base/design point combination.
For
example, if four design
points are defined for two bases, eight formulas will be created (4
design points times 2 bases). You also can choose to create duplicate
formulas for each design point. This is useful if you plan on making
other changes to the formulas after they are created and you want to use
the same starting formula or if you want to run statistics. By default,
the routine will only create one unique formula for each design point.
