With the current news headlines, remote working such as working from home is becoming more and more popular. The flexible ProductVision client offers many ways to help.
As a standard Windows application, the ProductVision client will work within all remote desktop environments, including Microsoft Remote Desktop and Citrix. With a VPN connection to the office, those working from home can access the full power of ProductVision and continue working without any loss of productivity.
The powerful Workflow Module enables users to continue to collaborate and share work as if they were in the office. Once logged on, users can see their assigned tasks, and email integration means that users do not miss important work.
The Workflow Module can be used to ensure a consistent product lifecycle process and ensure task approval and data integrity at critical milestones. Workflows can be created and assigned to any object such as raw materials, formulas and projects. Workflows can also automate elements of the process, for example, changing the product status, or emailing notifications to team members.

The Document Management Module also aids in remote working by ensuring business-critical documents are readily available right from within the ProductVision client. The Document Management Module has full version control and the ability to approve documents via simple status or the more powerful Workflow Module.

Those wanting even more power and flexibility could make use of the web API to connect their web applications directly into the ProductVision database. The API opens up the ProductVision business object model across the web, meaning users could view reports, approve tasks, and even enter projects all from their smartphone.
The web API becomes useful not only for those working from home but for any remote worker or user requiring access to data within the ProductVision database. For example, someone in the lab viewing a report or a salesperson on the road entering a new project brief. Because the web API is working directly with the ProductVision business object model, any associated business rules or workflows automatically integrate without the need for any additional effort.
