ProductVision Nutritional Labeling Module
ProductVision's integrated Nutritional Labeling Module automatically generates food nutrition labels and ingredient declarations that are compliant with the 2016 U.S. NLEA regulations and current and pending Canadian and European Union rules. The Nutritional Labeling module significantly reduces the time needed to create product labels for food and beverage products and ensures consistency with the recipe.
Module Features
Choose From Many Pre-Programmed Label Formats
The Nutritional Labeling Module offers a variety of standard label formats, including:
- Vertical
- Horizontal
- Narrow
- Infant
- Toddler
- Supplemental (nutraceuticals)
- Multi-Lingual
- Dual declaration labels (cereal/milk, mix/prepared)
- Several EU and Canadian label formats
These labels comply with all formatting requirements for fonts, point sizes, etc. To maintain claims, you can customize the facts panel by adding or removing specific nutrients.
Automatic Calculations
The module calculates and prints accurate nutrient values and daily values (U.S. label) percentages based on the entered serving size. It applies specific rounding rules for each nutrition value as regulations require. It automatically adjusts nutrients that are "not a significant source."
Flexible Ingredient Declarations
The software allows for an unlimited number of ingredient descriptions for the ingredient declaration, accommodating country, language, and application-specific needs. It can create multiple independent ingredient declarations using these descriptions. Similar components are grouped according to description and placed in the proper order. Users may override system-generated ingredient declarations for particular circumstances or company-specific standards.
Accounts for Special Requirements
The Nutritional Labeling Module supports parenthetical grouping of components at both the raw material and intermediate formula levels. For example, "Enriched Flour (Wheat Flour, Niacin, Iron, and Riboflavin)." Ingredients can be grouped under a single term with user-defined rules (e.g., "Contains: Vegetable Oils" for Corn Oil, Canola Oil). Allergens can be highlighted as required, such as "Contains: Milk, Egg, Peanuts." The module also reorders ingredients for water reconstitution of dehydrated ingredients and hides ingredient components below preset levels. For EU labels, it supports formula-specific Quid declarations.
